Durge was a Gen'Dai bounty hunter, Jedi hunter, and a commander in the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
The Gen'Dai were a seemingly immortal species with distributed nervous and vascular systems. Lacking the vulnerable vital organs of most races, including brains, hearts, and lungs, Gen'Dai could take extreme injuries and even complete dismemberment, and survive. However, if a Gen'Dai took too many injuries, they underwent an extended period of hibernation, during which they could regenerate.
After the Great Sith War, Durge was defeated by Vima Sunrider, but not killed.
When he resurfaced following the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Durge teamed up with Asajj Ventress to work for the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Near the climax of the Clone Wars, Durge faced off against Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker on board an abandoned ship above the watery world of Maramere. Skywalker hammered Durge back, forcing him into an escape pod and shooting him into Maramere's star, finally defeating the seemingly invincible warrior.
